Introduction to KOMAKSIUT:

We started our kennel 30 years ago with only one husky. At the moment  we bought our second husky we where introduced to sleddogracing. This fact changed our life drastically. From that very day we train our dogs in the winter and we use the summertime for all the necessary maintenance of sleds, harnesses and kennels. Of course the summer is also the time in which the future members of our sleddogteam are born.

The dogs are trained for long distance races. 
Almost every year we spent the the winter months in Scandinavia to train the dogs.
During the years we imported ten dogs from Alaska, two from Finland (Polar Speed) and three from Norway (Vargevass).
For breeding we are using dogs from Norway, Finland, Switserland and Alaska and sometimes we also use our own dogs.

Our dogs are available to registered suitable bitches.

During the years we had 3 Dutch show champions: Komaksiuts Pir-Tok, Komaksiuts Voo-Doo and Komaksiut Tok (2005). The last 2 where also the winners of the SHKN clubmatch.

We finished twice with a team in the Alpirod .

In Sweden we finished as 4th in the Polar Distans of 2004, a race over 311km.

On request we give lectures about Siberian Huskies and sleddogracing as well as "static" demonstrations.

Nies worked for a one year period in Norway and was introduced in those days to the Siberian husky.
Already at primary school she wrote essays about Eskimo's and their dogs. So probably the love for this breed is in her genes. She particularly studies the history of this breed and publishes on a regular basis in the Siberian Husky Club magazine. She recently wrote as a co-author the book "De Siberische Husky in Nederland". She trains in scandinavia de older and younger dogs in a team of six. She also participated(s) in organizing fairs and visits and participates in dogshows.

Her filosofy is that the dog not only has to work well but also has to comply with the standards
Hyls has always been dedicated to the organization of the sleddogsport. He was the organizer of the first Dutch sleddog rigrace  in the "Reichswald" and was involved in the foundation of Mushing Holland, the Trailclub of Europe and the SSC-NL. In those days he held several executive committee functions like ISDRA* vice president and ESDRA** president. 
He finds his satisfaction in the challenge of long distance races. He finished twice in the Alpirod and participated in the 600 km Finmarkslöyp   and the Scandream in Finland. In 2004 Hyls finished as fourth in the 311km log Polardistans race in Särna, Sweden.
The travel reports of those races where published in the magazines "Onze Hond" and "Hondenwereld".

During the last years we train our dogs mainly in Sweden.
